The Houston Dynamo and LA Galaxy square off Friday night at the BBVA Compass Stadium.
The Houston Dynamo hope to come away with three points after getting off to a 1-2-2 start to the season. The Dynamo are led by an offense that has produced 12 goals in five matches, currently the most goals of any team in the MLS. Houston has four players with at least three shots on goal and has scored at least one goal in eight of its last 10 matches. Will Bruin leads Houston with three goals, Boniek García has two assists and Andrew Wenger has 11 shots. Defensively, Joe Willis has come away with 27 saves on 36 shots faced. The Houston Dynamo have come away with points in six straight regular season home games.
USA TODAY Sports
The LA Galaxy hope to keep the ball rolling after a solid 2-1-2 start to the season that keeps them in the thick of the Western Conference. The Galaxy are led by a defense that’s allowed just four goals in five matches, which are the third fewest in the West. Overall, the Galaxy have allowed two or less goals in six straight matches, something that will keep them in every game this season. Offensively, Robbie Keane leads Los Angeles with two goals, Mike Magee has two assists and Gyasi Zardes has 11 shots. Defensively, Brian Rowe has come away with 17 saves on 20 shots faced. The LA Galaxy have lost four of their last six regular season road games.
The Dynamo have gotten the better of the Galaxy recently, as they’re 3-1-1 in the last five matches, which includes a win in the most recent match last July. The Galaxy’s only victory over the Dynamo during that span came in May of last year. Four of the last five meetings between these two teams have produced two or less goals.
In the last four matches against the Dynamo, the Galaxy have produced just two goals. That’s not going to cut it with a Houston team that’s been on fire offensively.
I look for Houston to get the victory at home.
