The Montreal Impact and Colorado Rapids meet Saturday afternoon at Saputo Stadium.
The Montreal Impact look to build on their Eastern Conference lead after a 4-3-1 record. The Montreal Impact are led by a defense that’s allowed nine goals in eight matches, which includes allowing one goal in Wednesday’s draw against New York City FC. Offensively, the Impact have four players with double-digit shots and six players with at least one goal this season. Ignacio Piatti leads Montreal with four goals, Dominic Oduro has three assists and Lucas Ontivero has 14 shots. Defensively, Evan Bush has come away with 25 saves on 35 shots faced. The Montreal Impact have won seven of their last eight regular season home games.

The Colorado Rapids also look to keep rolling after a strong 5-2-1 start to the season. The Colorado Rapids are led by a defense that’s allowed just six goals in their first eight matches, which includes includes one or less goals in every match this season. Offensively, the Colorado Rapids have four players with at least seven shots on goal and seven players with at least one goal scored this season. Luis Solignac leads Colorado with three goals, Marco Pappa has three assists and Jermaine Jones has six shots. Defensively, Zac MacMath has come away with 19 saves on 27 shots faced. The Colorado Rapids have lost six of their last nine regular season road games.
Colorado has beaten Montreal in three of the last four meetings, but lost the most recent back in October. The Rapids beat the Impact in the only match in Montreal back in 2013. Three of the four matches between these two teams have produced at least five goals.
The Montreal Impact are a pretty good home team and would love nothing more than to build on its current conference lead. While the Rapids have owned Montreal in limited matches, they’re not a good road team overall.
I like the Impact to win this game with their defense leading the way.
