Bolivia and Panama clash early Monday night in the Copa America at the Camping World Stadium.
Bolivia did win Copa America back in 1963 but has had little success since then and truly finds itself in its first major tournament since 1994 when it played in the World Cup. Bolivia isn’t expected to do much here mainly because Argentina and Chile are in the same group, but finishing third in this tough group would be a minor accomplishment given the lack of recent playing time on the big stage. The obvious player to watch is Jhasmani Campos, who is an impressive playmaker and gives Bolivia a punchers chance if he can get going. However, due to the lack of experience at this level and the limited depth on the offensive end, it’s likely going to be a quick trip for Bolivia in Copa America.

Panama has to have a little more confidence heading into this tournament considering it just finished third in last year’s Gold Cup. However, like Bolivia, people aren’t giving Panama much of a shot due to the top heavy group they find themselves in. Still, Panama cannot be overlooked due to the depth and proven leadership of this squad. A duo of Luis Tejada and Blas Perez has produced 81 goals and has the big match experience to go with it. Felipe Baloy and Luis Henriquez are also two solid defenders who will help keep Panama competitive at the other end of the field. Panama doesn’t have the firepower of the other teams in this group but is experienced and in decent form at the moment. Panama can be a tough out if it gets off to a fast start.
To have even the slightest chance of getting out of this group, one of these clubs needs to walk away with a victory. Panama is the better and more proven team of the two, as we haven’t seen Bolivia on the big stage in quite some time.
You have to like Panama’s experience and the pair of offensive players over anything Bolivia has. I’ll take Panama to get the victory here.
