Costa Rica and Colombia meet late Saturday night in the 2016 Copa America at NRG Stadium.

Costa Rica is pretty much playing for pride at this point after getting waxed by the United States, 4-0. Costa Rica controlled the ball for 59.2 percent of the match and managed just two shots on goal while giving up two late first half goals that really sucked the life out of the players. Christian Bolanos and Randall Azofeifa were the two Costa Rican players who put the ball on target, while Patrick Pemberton saved one of five shots. After such a beating and advancement extremely slim, you have to question just how motivated Costa Rica will be for this match. This may be one of those things where if Costa Rica gets down early, things could get extremely ugly once again due to some guys checking out.

Costa Rica vs. Colombia Copa America Pick, Odds, Prediction - 6/11/16

Colombia has already advanced to the quarterfinals with two victories and is coming off a 2-1 win over Paraguay. Colombia scored two first half goals led by Carlos Bacca and James Rodríguez, and was then able to defend some late tense moments to secure the victory. Overall, Colombia was once again aggressive offensively with 17 shot attempts and seven shots on target despite controlling the ball just 43.5 percent of the match. When you combine that explosiveness offensively with a defense that’s allowed just one goal in two matches, Colombia is clearly working with a scary club. Colombia has certainly made its presence known by being the first team in Copa America to advance to the next round.

Colombia is on fire right now and should have no problem beating Costa Rica assuming they come out with the same energy as the first two matches. I’m not sure how Costa Rica bounces back after being beat down against the US, as Oscar Ramirez and others looked shellshocked. If Colombia scores first, this match could get very ugly.

I have to side with Colombia to sweep the group stages.
