Croatia and the Czech Republic meet up for a pivotal group stage match up at the Euros on Friday with each team coming off opposite results.
Croatia held on for a 1-0 victory against Turkey in their tournament opener and are now in the driver’s seat to move on to the knockout stage if they can get a victory against the Czechs on Friday night. Croatia is led by Luka Modric and Mario Mandzukic with the former being one of the world’s top players and among the best in this tournament and his play will determine how far Croatia will go in this tournament and a big effort here today against the Czechs could be the statement that Croatia needs. Despite a victory against Turkey, Croatia didn’t look overwhelming by any means but they do have the three points in their back pocket and with this being a must win game for the Czechs they will have to play aggressive in the attacking third which should give Croatia plenty of opportunities to strike.

The Czechs played as well as they could in their tournament opener against Spain but a last minute goal for the defending Euro champs dashed their chances of finishing atop the group and without grabbing at least a single the Czechs face a must win here. The Czechs don’t have a ton of weapons to work with up front and really haven’t had much since the retirement of the glory group that includes Milan Baros and Pavel Nedved and while Petr Cech remains a solid option in the Czech goal, he can’t put the ball in the back of the net. The Czechs are going to push two, maybe three guy forward as the game moves along as they push for three points but in the end the Croatians are much too strong and I think they come up with a better effort today and win by a multi goal final setting up a great final match with Spain for top spot in the group at stake.
