The defending champions look for their second victory of the group stage as they take on Turkey who dropped their first game of the tournament against Croatia.
Spain escaped with three points in their opening match and while they were never really in any serious danger of conceding they didn’t look great in the attacking third until the final minutes where they go their break through. Spain is loaded with talent but it is an influx of new players that haven’t had as much experience at the international level and they may be treating this as a growing process to get set for the knockout stage. Spain and pretty heavy favourites to grab a win in this contest as Turkey has struggled of late and weren’t impressive in a losing effort despite only dropping one goal to Croatia. David de Gea was excellent in the Spanish goal though and he will be the rock for this group and could be a huge determinant in how far the Spaniards move along through the knockout phase and possibly into the quarters and beyond.

Turkey will need a more inspired effort in this one if they want any shot at advancing through to the next phase of the tournament as back to back losses in the group stage could spell the end of their European Cup title dreams in a hurry. Turkey has had success on the international stage in recent memory but this group doesn’t quite look up to par and despite a decent chance of getting out of the group coming in they don’t look the part right now and dropping all three to Croatia puts them behind the eight ball here. Spain wasn’t overly impressive in their opener but did enough to get the win against a pesky Czech side and while I anticipate Turkey will try and park the bus for most of the game, they will need to grab at least a point at which time I thin Spain will capitalize and grab a game securing goal.
