Everton make the trip to Manchester to take on a rampant Manchester United at Old Trafford, what sort of reception will former Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney get on his return and also how will Romelu Lukaku play against his former team?
Everton are in a slump three losses in a row on the field and some controversy surrounding their star man Wayne Rooney off it. Ronald Koeman is feeling the pressure. A midweek hammering by Atalanta from Italy followed the 3-0 hammering by Tottenham in front of their own fans at Goodison Park last weekend. The toffees come into this game needing something to stop the rot and it's probably the toughest game they could face all year. Rooney and Clavert-Lewin will lead the line up front while Sigurddson and Schneiderlein will be tasked with stopping a very impressive Manchester United midfield. Defensively Everton will need to be solid this weekend as they face their former star striker Romelu Lukaku.
Manchester United were rolling in the league until a hiccup last weekend at Stoke. That was a tough game for the Red Devils but Jose Mourhino's men showed plenty of metal coming from a goal down before being pegged back. Stoke were value for the point but United were unlucky not to win it with Lukaku, Martial having chances near the end to win the game. United's from three of Martial/Rashford Lukaku and Mkhitarian have been on fire all season. With fifteen goals in their first first five games in all competitions it's obvious where the strength is in this team. An injury to Paul Pogba will have an effect definitely but with Herrerra to come in to replace him it should not be that big an issue.
There are lots of side stories here but the main event is that Manchester United should be too strong for an improving Everton side. I would not be surprised if both Rooney and Lukaku score in this one but I think Manchester United will have too much in the locker and I expect the league leaders to win this one by a couple.
