Everton travel to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday to take on a Bournemouth team who are really struggling for form.
Everton are 5-3-0 in their eight games in all competitions under Sam Allardyce. The Toffees have been excellent defensively conceding just two goals in those eight games and have converted five of those into wins. Wayne Rooney looks revitalised this season with ten goals in the Premier League this year. His best return in the league in a number of years. With the experience of Rooney, Barry, Williams and Sigurddson along with the youthful exuberance of John joe Kenny, tom Davies, Calvert Lewin this Everton team look more and more like a top six team that the relegation strugglers they appeared to be for much of the season.
Bournemouth have not won in nine games. Bournemouth are 0-4-5 in those games conceding ninteen goals over that time period and scoring just eight. Bournemouth front three of Defoe, Wilson and King have just nine goals between them this season. Less than Wayne Rooney has managed on his own. Bournemouth struggles are on both sides of the ball and though Eddie Howe has the full support of the club, he will be coming under pressure to try to fix the problems appearing at the Vitality stadium. Bournemouth defensively have been terrible in the last few games and will really need to up their workrate against this busy Everton side.
I am taking Everton on the handicap here. Both sides may struggle over this festive period due to lack of squad strength but Everton should have a little more depth. I do fancy Everton on the outright but a rumour that Wayne Rooney is under the weather and may not play is stopping me from taking the Everton win at a big price.
