One of the games of the weekend in the Barclays Premier League will see Liverpool play host to Leicester City at Anfield.
Leicester City come into this game in patchy form, the foxes are 4-2-2 in their last eight overall but have been playing well under new manager Claude Puel. Leicester fought back well against Manchester United in a game they could easily have lost trailing 2-1 for much of the second half only to equalise in the last minute with a well worked goal from a set piece. Jamie Vardy and Rihad Mahrez are lethal on the counter attack and much of Leicester's chances for Saturday will depend on how Vardy can do against this shaky Liverpool back four. Vardy's pace and Mahrez creativity could cause lots of problems for Liverpool and look for big Harry Maguire to be at the target of any set pieces sent into the Liverpool box.
Liverpool are exceptional going forward. With Couthino, Firminho and Salah this side are electric at the moment. Jurgen Klopp's team play with a freedom of expression so rarely seen in the Premier League but as exciting as they are going forward Liverpool are equally as shaky at the back. Liverpool ahve just spent £75 million on a central defender Virgil Van Djik to try to address the issues they have in the back line and if the dutch international can have the desired effect then Liverpool could well challenge for second in the league behind this exceptional Manchester City side. The problem for Liverpool on Saturday though is that Van Djik can not play for them until January.
I see this one as a game that could go either one of two ways. Either Leicester frustrate Liverpool and hit them on the counter attack or Liverpool score early and end up destroying another team at home. My gut feeling on this one is that Leicester though will manage to frustrate Liverpool for long periods here and I am taking Leicester on the handicap in the first half. At worst I think we push here.
