Southampton will look to build on their point against Manchester United on Tuesday when they host a Crystal Palace team that managed to halt Manchester City's record breakers.
Crystal Palace have had a tough holiday period playing back to back games against Arsenal and Manchester City but Palace were excellent on Sunday and should have come away from the game against Manchester City with a win as the Eagles missed a penalty in injury time. Roy Hodgson's side took a leaf out of Newcastle's book when facing City and defended immensley and almost took the chance that came their way. With Wilfred Zaha and Andros Townsend Crystal Palace have game changers and both wingers can provide chances to win games. Roy Hodgson's side need more from their front men this season as Christian Benteke is struggling for goals and Palace dont really have many other options up top. Crystal Palace are 2-2-1 in their last five overall and have lost just one of their last ten in all competitions.
Southampton put in an immense display on Saturday at Old Trafford. Shane Long ran tirelessly for the 70 odd minutes he was on the park and Southampton boss Pelligrino will look for a simlar effort on Tuesday. Tadic and Boufal will again fill the creative roles but the Saints will be looking to get a win here as they have really struggled of late. Southampton are 0-2-3 in their last five overall and have not won a game since the 4-1 win over Everton in November. The loss of Virgil VanDjik was not evident on Saturday as Southampton put in a terrific defensive display but the Saints will miss their former captain.
For me this one is a coin flip, I think both teams have some momentum and this could lead to both canceling each other out. But given that I fell it's a flip taking Crystal Palace on the handicap looks the smart play. Palace have momentum and in my opinion have more game winners in their side with Zaha in particular being the standout player from both sides.
