One of the fairytale stories of the FA Cup could take place at St James Park on Saturday if League One leaders Luton Town could find a way to beat Newcastle United.
Rafa Benitez side much needed win over Stoke midweek lifted the Magpies out of the relegation zone but the former Liverpool boss will be well aware his side are just two points above their relegation rivals. Newcastle's focus will be on the upcoming relegation clash with Swansea next weekend and after the conjested Christmas period I fully expect Newcastle to rest a number of starters on Saturday against Luton. Out should go Perez, Gayle , Ritchie and possibly Shelvey and in will come Mitrovich, Aarons and a host of players who need the game time.
Luton are flying at the moment, Nathan Jones side are top of League One by four points and look like the best team in the Division right now. Luton will have no fear traveling to Newcastle to take on the Premier League big boys, the underdogs are expected to lose and this is basically a shot to nothing for them. With Danny Hylton and James Colling, Luton have a pair of strikers capable of finding the net. If Newcastle give up chances I expect these two to punish them.
Newcastle are 0-1-4 in their last five home matches. Newcastle have lost in the first round of the FA Cup on 4 of the last 5 years.
Luton Town are 4-0-1 in their last five overall. Luton Town are 4-0-1 in their last five away games.
