Burnley and Chelsea meet Thursday in Premier League soccer at Turf Moor.
Burnley is currently one of the hotter teams in the league right now, as they’ve won each of their last five matches and have earned points in each of their last six matches. Burnley has been getting the job done with an aggressive offensive attack that’s come out of nowhere and produced 11 goals during its five-game winning streak. Burnley is still averaging just one goal per game on the season, but when you combine this new offensive success with a defense that has 11 clean sheets, this is a club few want to play. With three of its next five matches at home, Burnley has a chance to really finish things off strong. Chris Wood leads The Clarets with nine goals, Johann Berg Gudmundsson has seven assists and Ashley Barnes has 55 shots.

Chelsea is coming off a solid 3-2 victory over Southampton and has now earned points in four of its last eight matches. Chelsea has had moments where its struggled defensively as of late, allowing at least one goal in six straight matches and giving up an average of two goals in its last three matches. Chelsea is still one of the more balanced teams in the league with a goal differential of +24, but you’d like to see this club finish the season stronger and with a little more consistency. Eden Hazard leads The Blues with 12 goals, Willian Borges Da Silva has seven assists and Alvaro Morata has 73 shots.
Burnley won the last meeting back in August, but Chelsea has had the upper-hand overall, producing a 2-1-2 record in the last five meetings. Burnley’s victory over Chelsea in the last meeting was the only win for The Clarets in seven tries. Each of the last five meetings between Burnley and Chelsea have produced at least two combined goals.
I’m not trying to step in front of Burnley right now, but I’m also not bold enough to predict a victory given the history between these two clubs. Chelsea has been a little lax on the defensive end than what we’re used to seeing, so maybe that opens the door for the over in this contest. I like the total as a better option to avoid picking a side.
