Leicester City and Southampton meet Thursday in Premier League soccer at King Power Stadium.
Leicester City looks for a bounce back performance after losing its last two matches to Burnley and Newcastle, and failing to get points in three of its last seven matches overall. Leicester City has been a mixed bag pretty much all season long, as the offensive firepower is there that gives them a chance each match, but the defensive inconsistency leads to a lot of frustrating results. Despite getting six shots on target compared to its opponents three, Leicester City still left with a loss in its last match. Leicester can’t afford to simply give away matches despite outplaying its opponents. Jamie Vardy leads The Foxes with 17 goals, Riyad Mahrez has eight assists and Wilfred Ndidi has 39 shots.

Southampton enters this game on a five-match losing streak, as it hasn’t earned points since a draw against Stoke in early March. Southampton has had trouble at both ends during this skid and is coming off a 3-2 loss to Chelsea despite getting seven shots on target. The good news for Southampton is that it has been aggressive offensively and has made the most of scoring opportunities despite struggling with position percentage, so it hasn’t been all bad despite the losses piling up. Southampton, of course, hasn’t won a march since its February meeting against West Brom. Charlie Austin leads The Saints with seven goals, Ryan Bertrand has four assists and Nathan Redmond has 37 shots.
Leicester City won the last meeting back in December 4-1 and is 2-1-2 against Southampton in the last five meetings overall. Southampton’s only recent win over Leicester City was a 3-0 home victory in January of 2017. Three of the last five meetings between these clubs have produced at least three goals.
Neither of these teams are in great form, and despite Southampton in far worse shape, it’s tough to trust Leicester given the inconsistent play on the defensive end. This match could really go either way and for the most part, past meetings have been rather high scoring. I like the value of both teams scoring a goal in this matchup.
