Las Palmas and Girona meet Saturday in La Liga soccer action at Gran Canaria.
Las Palmas enters this match with an overall record of 5-7-25, a 4-2-12 record at home and a 1-5-13 record on the road. Las Palmas looks for anything positive at the moment, as this club has been shutout in five of its last six matches and is rarely earning points these days. Las Palmas hasn’t won a match since early February and just 23 goals scored are the fewest in the league. Needless to say, Las Palmas will take whatever it can get at this point, and that’s if there’s any motivation left for the players considering they’ve already been regulated to the Segunda Division. Calleri leads Las Palmas with eight goals, Viera has four goals and Halilovic has two goals.

Girona enters this match with an overall record of 13-9-15, a 8-3-8 record at home and a 5-6-7 record on the road. Girona has been on the losing side in three of its last four matches and needs to stop the bleeding before dropping any further in the standings. Girona continues to have holes in its defense, but now this club is struggling to find the back of the net with just two combined goals in its last four matches. The good news is that Girona does know how to grind points out on the road, however, the defensive issues seem to rear their ugly head far more away from home, so this is another dangerous match for the Whites and Reds. Stuani leads Girona with nine goals, Portu has 11 goals and Juanpe has five goals.
Las Palmas has won four of the last five meetings, however, Girona won the most recent match in January 6-0. Considering no other match took place before 2016 and these teams are heading in different directions, that match has to hold serious weight.
Gorilla isn’t playing well and the struggling defense on the road makes them tough to back. But it’s damn near impossible to make a case for Las Palmas, a team that’s been piling up the losses for quite some time and has the worst goal differential in the league by far.
Give me Girona in a much needed road victory.
