Chicago Fire and Houston Dynamo meet Sunday in MLS soccer action at Toyota Park.
Chicago Fire enters this match with an overall record of 3-5-2, a 2-3-1 record at home and a 1-2-1 record on the road. Chicago Fire could use a bounce back performance here after losing two of their last three matches, which includes a 0-3 loss Saturday to Columbus. Chicago Fire has had some serious issues on the offensive end so far this season, averaging just 1.3 goals per game, and that average is the exact same at home. Scoring one or less goals in 60 percent of their matches this season, the Chicago Fire need to find a spark somewhere if this season is going to be a success. Nemanja Nikolic leads the Chicago Fire with five goals, Bastian Schweinsteiger has four assists and Aleksandar Katai has 27 shots.

Houston Dynamo enters this match with an overall record of 3-3-3, a 3-2-0 record at home and a 0-1-3 record on the road. Houston Dynamo have been hit or miss pretty much all season long, but they’re making quick progress in the standings by earning points in four of their last five matches. Houston Dynamo is averaging 2.2 goals on the season while allowing 1.7 goals, but those numbers deep just a bit on the road, which is where a lot of their issues to finish games have taken place up to this point. Houston Dynamo has shown its good at grinding out games and getting positive results, but you’d like to see better defense to get more victories. Mauro Manotas leads Houston Dynamo with five goals, Alberth Elis has five assists and Romell Quioto has 24 shots.
These teams have gone back and forth over the years with there being a draw and two wins for both sides in the last five meetings. Houston Dynamo won the last meeting in Chicago, 3-0, back in October. Four of the last five meetings have produced at least two goals.
The Houston Dynamo have proven to be the better team so far this season and find ways to hang around on the road. But this feels like a spot where the Chicago Fire can kind of get back on track and get a much needed win. Houston isn’t great defensively and can give some quality looks. I’m siding with the home team to get the victory.
