Montreal Impact and LA Galaxy meet Monday in MLS soccer action at Saputo Stadium.
Montreal Impact enters this match with an overall record of 3-8-0, a 2-2-0 record at home and a 1-6-0 record on the road. Montreal Impact could use some much needed points in this match considering they’ve left six of their last seven matches without earning point. Montreal Impact heads into this matchup as one of the worst defensive clubs in the league, allowing 2.4 goals per match and two or more goals in six of their last seven matches. There’s no secret that Montreal has its work cut out if its going to turn this season around, and it doesn’t help that they’re dealing with a ton of injuries right now and won’t have Daniel Lovitz for this contest due to suspension. Ignacio Piatti leads Montreal with five goals, Alejandro Silva has two assists and Saphir Taider has 26 shots.

LA Galaxy enters this match with an overall record of 3-6-1, a 2-3-0 record at home and a 1-3-1 record on the road. LA Galaxy could also use some points here while snapping a four-game losing streak. LA Galaxy have picked up their offense as of late, but its tough to win when you allow a combined nine goals in your last three matches. In five road games this season, LA Galaxy have allowed two or more goals three times, which isn’t a positive sign things are going to turn around in this matchup. It’s too early to panic, but things aren’t looking great for Los Angeles at the moment. Ola Kamara leads Los Angeles with four goals, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has three assists and Romain Alessandrini has 15 shots.
LA Galaxy are 2-2-1 against the Montreal Impact in the last five meetings, which includes a 2-0 win in the last meeting between these clubs in April of 2017. Montreal’s only win over Los Angeles in the last five matches came in May of 2016. Three of the last five meetings between these clubs produced at least two goals.
Something has to give for these two struggling clubs, and it’s tough to make an argument for either side. LA Galaxy is simply playing awful at the moment and defensive issues are rarely fixed on the road. Montreal has never lost to the LA Galaxy at home and given the current form, it’s tough seeing that skid come to an end. I’ll back the home team to get a much needed victory.
