United States and Bolivia meet Monday in International Friendly soccer action at the Talen Energy Stadium.

United States is 1-0-2 in its three matches since that shocking loss to Trinidad and Tobago that prevented them from qualifying for the World Cup. The US is coming off its most complete match with a 1-0 victory over Paraguay, as they controlled possession for 51 percent of the match, got three shots on goal and a Bobby Wood penalty kick sealed the deal. While the United States would love to be gearing up for games that actually matter, it’s now time to take these matches seriously, build chemistry and get some of these young players the confidence and experience for future success. Every player on the current US squad is under 30 years old and all but four of them have under 10 caps. Winning is cool and good to get that nasty taste out of their mouth, but gaining experience and building depth is key in these matches.

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Bolivia is another club that failed to qualify for the World Cup, and this squad hasn’t made the tournament overall since 1994. Bolivia is coming off a pair of friendly matches against Curaçao in which it left with a draw and a loss. Bolivia doesn’t have much offensive firepower and is also a very young team, but the defense has been solid, allowing one or less goals in four of its last five matches. Take away the match in which Uruguay lit them up for four goals, and Bolivia has allowed a combined two goals in its last two matches. As for the youth of this roster, Carlos Lampe and Danny Bejarano are the only two players on the Bolivia current squad that have double-digit caps. So, like the US, these matches are all about gaining experience that will help them get positive results later in the year when the games actually matter.

These two clubs played once in the past, which was in a 2016 International Friendly, a match the US won 4-0. The US controlled the ball for 60 percent of the match and produced seven shots on goal to dominate from start to finish.

United States is putting out a very raw and young club, but Bolivia has them beat in youth, as this club is extremely wet behind the ears. This is a match the US should win rather easily like it did a couple of years ago, as there’s a clear talent advantage for the United States and it’s a home match with it being played in Pennsylvania. The US should be eager to take out some frustration and beating up on Bolivia would certainly help.

I’ll take the US by two goals.
