We have some MLS action on Wednesday night from Talen Energy Stadium as the Philadelphia Union play host to the Chicago Fire.

The Philadelphia Union enter this match on a current three game unbeaten run, including going on the road and holding New York Red Bull to a scoreless draw in their last outing. The Union held their own on the road, claiming 48% possession with three of their ten shots hitting the target. Alex Blake made four saves for Philly while Marcus Epps accounted for three shots, two on target. The draw pushed Philadelphia’s record to 4-5-3 this season. Borek Dockal, Ilsinho and C.J. Sapong are tied for the team-high with two goals each while Sapong leads the team with 23 shots and Fabrice Picault leads the Union with two assists this season.

Philadelphia Union vs. Chicago Fire - 5/30/18 MLS Soccer Pick, Odds and Prediction

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Fire come into this one fresh off a big 2-1 road victory over Orlando City FC, improving their record to 4-6-2 this season breaking their run of back-to-back defeats. Aleksandar Katai opened the scoring for Chicago 13 minutes in, and conceded the equalizer in the 28th, and it stayed at 1-1, headed for another draw before Alan Gordon put the Fire ahead for good in the 82nd minute. Nemanja Nikolic was held without a shot but still leads Chicago with 6 goals this season and 12 shots on target, while the aforementioned Katai leads the Fire with 20 shots and Bastian Schweinsteiger leads the team in assists with 4 helpers this season.

The home team has dominated this matchup, winning each of the last five meetings between these two teams and Philadelphia have not lost at home to Chicago in league play since August 2013, posting a 3-0-2 record over that span.

Chicago’s win over Orlando was impressive, however Orlando is far from the same team that was on a six game winning streak just a couple of weeks ago. Philadelphia is by no means a world beater, but they’ve done well against the Fire at home and considering the run of success that the home team has had in this fixture, I think backing the home win is the way to go here.
