We have some MLS action from Gillette Stadium on Saturday evening as the New York Red Bulls pay a visit to the New England Revolution.

The New York Red Bulls come into this one unbeaten in their last five matches after snapping their four game winning streak with a scoreless draw against Philadelphia Union in their last outing. The Red Bulls dodged a bullet in the 53rd minute, as Union striker C.J. Sapong missed a penalty. New York had the possession advantage, holding the ball for 52% possession, while owning the advantage in shots with 12 shots as a team, 4 on target, however none of those opportunities came to fruition by the full time whistle. Bradley Wright-Phillips still remains the top catalyst of the Red Bulls’ offense, leading the team with 8 goals and 4 assists while Daniel Royer leads New York with 24 shots this season, with 15 landing on target.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Revolution will be out for a win after going winless in their last three games with back-to-back draws, most recently escaping with a 1-1 draw against Atlanta United. Atlanta took the lead 23 minutes in before Teal Bunbury equalized from the penalty spot in the 88th minute, salvaging a point for the Revs in the end. New England ended the match with 48% possession, 9 shots as a team with 6 of the attempts landing on target, but the one that mattered came 12 yards from the spot. Bunbury leads the Revs with 7 goals this season and is tied with Cristian Penilla for the team lead with 24 shots this season, however Bunbury leads in shots on target with 17 to Penilla’s 15. Penilla does however lead New England with 4 assists this season.

The Red Bulls have won the last three meetings with the Revolution, and the Revs have not beaten New York in MLS league play since April 2016. It’s also worth noting that four of the last six meetings have seen one team not end up on the scoresheet.

One would probably think that the Revolution are due for a win after salvaging draws in their last two games. However, this is a very good price that we are getting with the Red Bulls given this positive run of form that they’ve had as of late, so I’ll side with the away win as my top pick.
