The Seattle Sounders and Real Salt Lake meet in the second leg of a home-and-home set with this leg coming from Rio Tinto Stadium in MLS action on Saturday night.

The Seattle Sounders are in dire need of a win after going winless in four of their last five games, posting a 2-6-2 record this season, including a 1-0 loss in their last match against this same Real Salt Lake squad. The Sounders fell behind in the 63rd minute and couldn’t recover, owning 46% possession while outshooting RSL with 10 shots and 3 on target. The Sounders have scored just seven goals this season, with the lone Seattle player with more than one goal being Will Bruin who has found the back of the net 3 times this season. Bruin also leads the Sounders with 2 assists, 14 shots and 9 shots on target.

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Real Salt Lake will be looking to build on a 2-1 victory over Houston Dynamo in their last outing, pushing their record to 6-6-1 this season. Luis Silva gave RSL the lead 34 minutes in and Salt Lake held that lead until the 75th minute before Houston equalized, however Kyle Beckerman had the last say, giving RSL the lead for good in the 82nd minute. Salt Lake owned the possession battle, holding the ball for 56% of the match, with shots being even 12 apiece and the Dynamo holding a slight advantage with 6 shots on target to Salt Lake’s 5. Three Salt Lake players are tied for the team lead with 3 goals this season, one being Albert Rusnak who also leads the team with 3 assists this season. Jefferson Savarino leads RSL with 23 shots this season, while Joao Plata, who also has 3 goals, leads Salt Lake with 13 shots on target this season.

A dominant trend in this one, before Real Salt Lake’s 1-0 victory last weekend, the home team had won the last 13 encounters in MLS play. The last three meetings have also seen one team held off of the score sheet.

Both teams will have players missing for this one as Rusnak will be missing for RSL due to his selection to the Slovakian national team while Seattle will be missing leading scorer Will Bruin will be missing due to injury. All in all, I think the trend of home team dominance continues as Real Salt Lake cruise to victory.
