Spain and Switzerland square off in an international friendly in soccer action from the Estadio de la Ceramica in Villareal, Spain.
Spain come into this friendly looking to build some steam after a disastrous appearance in the 2014 World Cup where as the defending champions, La Roja failed to make it out of the group stage. Spain had a slightly better showing at Euro 2016, where they made it out of the group stage before bowing out to Italy in the round of 16. David De Gea will most likely be between the sticks once tournament play starts and De Gea has quite the line in front of him to flank the defence, with names like captain Sergio Ramos, Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique. Andres Iniesta is the vice-captain and will head man the midfield while Diego Costa will be assigned to do the scoring for the Spaniards. Spain has gone unbeaten in their last 18 matches in all competitions, friendly and World Cup qualifying.

Switzerland will once again be looking to play the role of dark horse on the big stage, after making it out of their group in the 2014 World Cup and losing a heartbreaker in extra time to eventual runner-up Argentina in the round of 16, the Swiss had the same fate at Euro 2016, falling to Poland on penalties. Yann Sommer and Roman Burki are the two candidates for the starting job in Russia, while captain Stephan Lichtsteiner is closing in on 100 career caps for the Swiss national team. Xherdan Shari, Granit Xhaka and Haris Seferovic will have their hands full in being charge of the attacking for the Swiss in the upcoming tournament. Switzerland have won 13 of their last 15 matches in all competitions, with their lone blemishes coming at the hands of a 2-0 loss to Portugal and a scoreless draw with Northern Ireland in World Cup qualifying.
Spain and Switzerland have only met once this century, and it was the Swiss eking out a 1-0 win over Spain in the group stage of the 2010 World Cup, a tournament that we all know Spain ended up winning in extra time.
Both of these teams come into this one on impressive runs, however I can’t see either one going full boar to win a friendly and sacrifice player’s health with the tournament just around the corner, so I’ll side with the full time draw being the top pick here, while braver punters may want to chase the final score line of 1-1.
