Croatia and Senegal meet Friday in International Friendly soccer action at Gradski Vrt.

Croatia has this last friendly match before opening up the World Cup with a meeting against Nigeria. Croatia is coming off a 2-0 loss to Brazil and has lost two of its last three matches overall. The issue for Croatia is finding some consistent offense, as this club has been shutout in three of its last four matches and has scored one or less goals in eight of its last 10 matches overall. The good news for Croatia is that this is a very talented team that has five different players with double-digit international goals, so I wouldn’t put too much stock into these friendly matches. Croatia has a legit chance to advance past the group stages for the first time in 20 years. Still, you’d like to see a spark of offense in this match before the tournament begins.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Senegal has two more friendly matches before beginning its World Cup run against Poland. Senegal has had offensive struggles of its own, forcing three straight draws and scoring just once in those three matches. The good news is that Senegal has pitched back-to-back shutouts, and those matches came against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Luxembourg. In fact, Senegal has pitched shutouts in six of its last eight matches, so this is clearly a good defensive side that doesn’t give up many quality looks. As long as that defensive pressure continues, Senegal has a chance to be a real dark horse in the upcoming tournament and has a punchers chance any time it takes the field.

There’s no previous meetings between these two sides.

Croatia has had trouble putting the ball in the back of the net and Senegal doesn’t give up anything easy, almost always playing in one or two goal games. You also have to factor that both clubs are in the World Cup, so the last thing you’re trying to do is kill yourself to get a positive result in pretty much a meaningless game.

Give me the under.
