We have some international friendly soccer action on Sunday as Poland closes out their tune-up schedule with a match against Lithuania.
Poland comes into this exhibition as their final World Cup tune-up match, hoping to fix the kinks that have resulted the Polish going winless in four out of their last five matches, including a 2-2 draw with Chile in their last outing. Poland jumped out to an early 2 goal cushion thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski and Piotr Zielinski in the 30th and 34th minutes respectively. However, Chile cut that lead in half just four minutes later and would equalize in the 56th minute and would result in the full time stalemate. Poland was outpossessed in the loss, holding the ball for only 48% of the match, while also being outshot 16-12 with each team logging 5 shots on goal.

Lithuania on the other hand will be playing for pride as they will be watching the World Cup from home after failing to qualify for Russia 2018. The Lithuanians went winless in the Baltic Cup, drawing Latvia and losing to Estonia before losing in their friendly to Iran last time out by a final score of 1-0. It was a fairly dull affair that saw one yellow card and looked to finish in a scoreless draw before Karim Ansarifard broke the deadlock for the Iranians in the 88th minute.
These two teams have gone head-to-head three times this decade, with each side winning a game and the most recent meeting ending in a scoreless draw in June 2016.
The problem with backing Lithuania here is that they have absolutely nothing to play for except for Pride. Poland has some underrated tough competition in the group stage in Russia, facing Senegal, Colombia and Japan. All in all, I think this is the game where Poland figures things out, therefore I’m going to back Poland with a -1.5 handicap.
