South Korea and Mexico meet Saturday in World Cup soccer action at Rostov Arena.

South Korea is coming off a frustrating 1-0 loss to Sweden, as it didn’t produce a single shot on goal and ended up eventually losing on a Andreas Granqvist penalty kick. The Taegeuk Warriors simply could not get comfortable on the offensive end and only managed five shots overall in the lackluster effort. South Korea has now been shutout in each of its last three matches and the lack of offensive success has to be getting to this experienced team that’s made the World Cup every time since 1986. The Taegeuk Warriors have to be more aggressive on the attack if this match is going to be different than the previous. South Korea is in danger of being bounced in the group stages for the seventh time in its last nine World Cup appearances.

South Korea vs. Mexico - 6/23/18 World Cup Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Mexico and its 1-0 victory over Germany was probably the most impressive result of the opening World Cup matches. The Germans are not only the defending World Cup champs, but they were also the favorites with Brazil to win it this year, and El Tri stopped them cold in their tracks. In the victory, Mexico allowed 25 shots overall and nine on goal, but Guillermo Ochoa standed on his head like he did in 2014, proving he’s arguably the best goalie in this tournament. Mexico was able to ride the lead from a Hirving Lozano first half goal that gave this club a massive three points and a real shot of getting out of this group. There were a lot of questions heading into the tournament with Mexico, as many thought this team didn’t have what it takes to make a deep run. It’s amazing how one victory can change the whole outlook of a team.

There’s no previous meetings between these two sides.

South Korea has scored just one combined goal in its last four matches and is now going up against one of the best and more proven goalies in this entire tournament. I am worried about a possible letdown factor with Mexico, as a win over Germany could have taken some of the edge off of these players and result in a ore relaxed effort. Other than that, however, I’m not sure how you don’t pick Mexico to win this match, even if its more of a fade from South Korea. The Taegeuk Warriors show no willingness to try to be aggressive offensively and don’t look confident at all.

I like Mexico to keep the momentum rolling.
