Nigeria and Argentina meet Tuesday in World Cup soccer action at Arena St Petersburg.

Nigeria is coming off n impressive bounce back performance in which it beat Iceland 2-0 while controlling the possession for 56 percent of the match. Nigeria not only came into that match losing five of its last six matches overall, but it showed nothing again Croatia to believe this was going to be a successful tournament. Now, the Super Eagles control their own fait in this group and likely advance with either a victory or a draw. Nigeria has to play its style and not play scared, as this club has a speed and athleticism advantage over most teams. Be aggressive offensively and Nigeria has to like its chances to shock the world and advance out what was an intriguing group. Nigeria has a chance to make it out of the group stages for the second straight World Cup appearance.

Nigeria vs. Argentina - 6/26/18 World Cup Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Sipa USA-USA TODAY Sports

Argentina was ironically given new life in this tournament from Nigeria with its win over Iceland and now likely advances to the knockout stages with a victory here. Argentina simply has looked awful in its first two matches and looks like it had its heart ripped out of its chest in its loss to Croatia. Argentina is getting nothing going offensively and has actually now been held to one or less goals in three of its last four matches. There’s no creativity, no quality passing and no ability to finish for the White and Sky-Blues. However, Argentina still is led by one of the best players in the world, and all it takes is a few times seeing the ball go into the back of the net for the view of this team to completely change. Argentina has not been bounced in the group stages of the World Cup since 2002.

These teams just met last November in a friendly match and Nigeria won 4-2. Alexander Chuka Iwobi scored twice in the victory and Nigeria ended up scoring three times within a 10 minute span. Ever Maximiliano David Banega and Sergio Leonel "Kun" Aguero found the back of the net for Argentina.

I’ve lost money on Argentina twice this tournament, so it’s tough for me to go back to the well once again. Nigeria was impressive in its last outing and has the confidence by smoking Argentina less than a year ago. You can make an argument to take the Super Eagles and a chance to make almost six times your money. However, a second chance at life could be the thing that gives Argentina its needed spark, and it’s likely only a matter of time before the offense breaks free. Messi can’t go out like this in likely his last World Cup. Can he?

I’ll back Argentina once more, even if I’m far less confident than I was the first two times.
