We have some MLS Action on Saturday from Toyota Park as the Chicago Fire host New York City FC.
The Chicago Fire will look to keep their unbeaten run going which currently sits at four games following a 3rd consecutive draw, the most recent being a 1-1 stalemate at Seattle last time out. Alexander Katai gave the Fire the lead just nine minutes into the game before Clint Dempsey equalized for Seattle just 13 minutes later, and it would stay that way for the remainder of the 90 resulting in both sides splitting the points. Chicago were out possessed by Seattle 54%-46%, and outshot 18-15 with each side logging 7 shots on goal. Katai leads the Fire with 6 goals this season while Brandt Bronico and Bastian Schweinsteiger are tied for the Chicago team lead with 4 assists this year.

New York City FC on the other hand will look to keep their own unbeaten run going after making it points in three straight games following a 2-1 come from behind win over Toronto FC in their last outing. NYCFC fell behind 1-0 37 minutes in on a cheeky chip from TFC’s Victor Vazquez, but a pair of goals 17 minutes apart from Jo Inge Berget in the 51st and 68th minutes awarded NYCFC all three points at the final whistle. New York out possessed Toronto 59%-41%, and outshot TFC 18-10 and 8-2 in terms of shots on target in the victory. David Villa leads NYCFC with 8 goals this season while sharing the team lead with Maxi Moralez with each having 4 assists this season.
In five all-time meetings between Chicago and New York City FC, NYCFC have never lost, posting three wins and a pair of draws, with the most recent match ending in a 1-1 draw back in September 2017.
The draw is tempting considering that it’s been a common trend for Chicago as of late but we are getting a great price on an outright NYCFC victory here. New York City are just the better team here home or away, and should have no issues claiming all three points against a Chicago that’s struggled to find their footing as of late. A double chance may be worth a look too with the draw if punters don’t want to take a chance, but I think the outright victory is the way to go for NYCFC here.
