Croatia and Denmark meet Sunday in World Cup soccer action at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
Croatia has been arguably the most impressive team this tournament, as it swept its group with wins over Nigeria, Argentina and Iceland. Croatia has displayed a balanced attack, but its the offense that’s been most impressive, scoring a combined seven goals in three matches and producing seven shots on goal. Croatia has been very efficient at both ends and has shown it can win with or without the ball. The Blazers have now won seven of their last 10 matches and have allowed a combined two goals in their last four matches overall. Few teams are going to have the confidence Croatia has at the moment, as you can say this has been the cleanest team throughout the group stages. Croatia hopes to make the quarterfinals of the World Cup for the first time since 1998.

Denmark is out of the group stages of the World Cup for the first time since 2002 and has been able to get here by playing its style. Denmark is a big, physical team that relies on defense and wearing down its opponent. Well, Denmark has allowed a combined one goal in its last seven matches, which includes shutting out France and Peru. The Danish Dynamite are as good as it gets defensively and have allowed just one goal this tournament despite giving up 15 shots on goal. The offense isn’t pretty at times and there aren’t many difference makers outside of Christian Eriksen, but Denmark always has a shot to win due to its defensive pressure and physical play. Denmark hopes to make the quarterfinals of the World Cup for the first time since 1998.
The last meeting between these two teams was a friendly match back in 2004, a meeting Croatia won 2-1. Tomislav Sokota and Ivica Olic found the back of the net for Croatia, while Ebbe Sand scored the lone goal for Denmark.
Croatia should win this match due to being the more balanced team, and I’m not trying to step in front of this squad with the way it looked in group stages. However, Denmark has the defense to win a single elimination match and defense is usually the deciding factor as the pressure of matches increases. I’m looking at the under in this match. Both sides have been extremely clean defensively through six total matches and games only get tighter the deeper we get into the tournament. Denmark has produced clean sheets in its sleep and Croatia has given up just one goal this tournament.
Give me the under.
