The Line: England +113 / Colombia +316 / Draw +224 -- Over/Under: 2 See the Latest Odds

TV: FOX

England and Colombia meet Tuesday in World Cup soccer action at the Otkrytie Arena.

England was one of the more impressive teams in group stages, beating Tunisia and Panama with a goal differential of +6. England did lose to Belgium in its last match, its first loss in over a year, but it’s also important to note that the Three Lions rested key players for the knockout stages. England is a balanced and experienced football club that’s scored at least two goals in four of its last five matches and is in the round of 16 in the world cup for the fourth time in its last five tries. England is well coached, doesn’t beat itself very often and usually just finds a way to win even if it isn’t pretty all the time. England is that one team that nobody wants to face in the tournament given its history, even if it hasn’t won the World Cup since 1966. This is a hard team to put away no matter where you play. England have a chance to make it to the quarterfinals of the World Cup for the first time since 2006.

England vs. Colombia - 7/3/18 World Cup Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Colombia bounced back nicely from its opening loss to Japan by beating Poland and Senegal to make it out of the World Cup group stages for the third time in its last four appearances. Colombia has produced back-to-back clean sheets and hasn’t allowed a single goal overall in four of its last five matches. The Coffee Growers are an exciting team capable of exploding offensively but has improved big time defensively over the last few months and has more confidence on that side of the field lately. The one question mark for Colombia is the health of James Rodriguez and his leg, as reports say there’s no structural damage but there is swelling. Rodriguez, the one difference maker for Colombia, has to be ready to play if this side wants a realistic chance to advance. Colombia hopes to make it back-to-back quarterfinal appearances in the World Cup.

The last time these teams met was in a 2005 friendly in which England won 3-2 thanks to a hat trick from Michael Owen. Mario Yepes and Aldo Leao Ramirez found the back of the net for Colombia in the losing effort.

It’s tough to pick Colombia to win this match not knowing how healthy Rodriguez is going be. Without him healthy, Colombia’s chances decrease drastically, as he’s one of the top players in the tournament and a guy capable of taking over a match by himself. So, England should be the pick here if forced to pick a side. But without knowing for sure, I’m going to play the total and back the over. The knockout stages have been very high scoring up to this point, and England has scored two or more goals in four of its last five matches, while Colombia has found the back of the net at least once in nine of its last 11 matches.

We should get three goals here.
