We have some midweek MLS action from the StubHub Centre as LA Galaxy host DC United on Wednesday night.
LA Galaxy come into this match unbeaten in their last three league outings, including a 3-3 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes last time out. Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave LA the lead in the opening minute before Chris Wondolowski equalized on a penalty rebound in the 15th. LA struck twice in a span of five minutes in the 20th and 25th minutes thanks to a Romain Alessandrini goal in the 20th and a 2nd goal from Ibra in the 25th minute. San Jose pulled one back in the 39th giving us a 3-2 halftime scoreline before Wondo equalized again for San Jose, successfully converting a penalty in the 69th to give us our final score line. San Jose out possessed LA 55%-45%, and outshot the Galaxy 12-10 and 6-4 in terms of shots on target. Zlatan Ibrahimovic leads the Galaxy with 9 goals this season while Ema Boateng leads LA with 5 assists on the year.

DC United enter this match on a three game winless streak following a 3-2 loss to New England Revolution in their last outing. Christian Penilla gave the Revs the lead in the 18th, before DC’s Yamil Asad equalized for DC in the 43rd. That lasted just three minutes though as Teal Bunbury gave the Revs a 2-1 lead just before halftime. Asad completed the brace from the penalty spot in the 73rd to tie the game at 2-2, before the aforementioned Penilla converted a penalty of his own to give New England a 3-2 lead that they would not relinquish. DC out possessed New England 55%-45% and were narrowly outshot 14-13 but did outshoot the Revolution 7-4 in terms of shots on target. Asad and Darren Mattocks are tied for the team lead with 7 goals apiece this season while Luciano Acosta leads DC United with 4 assists on the year.
Head-to-head the home team has seen the majority of the success when these two teams lock up, winning eight and drawing seven of the last 16 meetings between these two sides since 2007. The last meeting resulted in a scoreless draw back in June 2017.
General assumptions would lead us towards LA Galaxy winning this game given the dominance by the home team in the head-to-head trends. However, there was a lot left to be desired for the Galaxy in my opinion after a disappointing showing in their draw against San Jose. DC, despite their record, has a lot of offensive potential with the likes of Asad and Mattocks and I think are worth a look in addition to a draw as a double chance to close out action on Wednesday.
