We have some MLS action on Saturday from Orlando City Stadium as Orlando City plays host to Toronto FC.
Orlando City comes into this match in dire need of a win after seeing their losing streak hit nine games following a 4-1 thumping at the hands of LAFC in their last outing. LAFC went from scoreless tie in the 28th to 2-0 up in the 32nd before Sacha Kljestan pulled a goal back for Orlando just before the hour mark. The match stayed at 2-1 until LAFC scored two goals in three minutes in the 82nd and 84th to seal all three points for the home side. LAFC out possessed Orlando 63%-37% and outshot the Lions 19-14 and 13-9 in terms of shots on goal. Dom Dwyer leads Orlando City in scoring with 7 goals this season, while Yoshimar Yotun leads Orlando City with 4 assists this season.

Toronto FC will be out to snap a winless run of their own which currently sits at five games following a 2-2 draw with Sporting Kansas City in their last outing. Jonathan Osorio gave the Reds the lead 25 minutes in and TFC were cruising before conceding two goals in 4 minutes from the penalty spot in the 57th and a breakaway goal in the 61st. Jordan Hamilton drew TFC level at 2-2 in the 69th minute, leading us to our final score line. TFC were out possessed 54%-46%, and outshot 18-8 and 5-3 in regards to shots on target.
Head-to-head, Toronto FC has had the recent run of form, winning four and drawing one of the last five meetings between the two sides, including wins in the last three games.
Head-to-head trends would suggest TFC sending Orlando City’s losing streak to double digits. However, that may have been true with last year’s squad, but this year’s Toronto FC team just appears lost, like they don’t know what they have to do to get a win. On the other hand, as much as this seems like a winnable game for Orlando, I can’t invest any stake in the Lions until they show signs of life and turning the ship around. For those reasons, I’m going to side with a draw, as I don’t see either side doing enough to put the other away by the full time whistle.
