We have some MLS action from MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday as the Columbus Crew host Orlando City.
The Columbus Crew come into this game looking to find their footing after losing four of their last five games following a 2-0 loss to NYCFC last time out. The game looked bound for a scoreless stalemate which would’ve been a moral victory for the Crew, holding a strong home side like New York City to a single point. However it was not meant to be as New York City struck twice in the final 10 minutes to secure all three points at home, and to make matters worse, Eduardo Sosa received a straight red card late in second half stoppage time for a horrendous tackle. NYCFC outpossessed Columbus 53%-47%, and the Crew were narrowly outshot 18-17, with each side logging 5 shots on goal. Gyasi Zardes leads Columbus with 11 goals this season while Federico Higuain leads the Crew with 5 assists on the year.

Orlando City will be looking to build some momentum after snapping their brutal 9 game losing streak with a 2-1 win over Toronto FC in their last outing. Chris Schuler gave Orlando the lead in the 34th minute before Dom Dwyer doubled that advantage just 3 minutes after the half. TFC pulled one back late but Orlando City held on for a much needed 3 points when all was said and done. Orlando City owned just 47% possession, but outshot Toronto 18-16 and 7-4 in terms of shots on target. Dwyer leads Orlando in scoring with 8 goals this season, while Yoshimar Yotun and Chris Mueller are tied for the team lead with 4 goals apiece.
Head-to-head, Columbus has had the bulk of the success between the two sides, winning three and drawing two of the last five overall meetings.
Orlando City has never won at Columbus, and the Crew have had the load of recent success against Orlando. However, it’s a tad concerning that in their four losses during this skid, the Crew haven’t scored, being outscored 10-0 by their opposition. Granted, three of those losses came on the road and the other came against the best team in the league in Atlanta. However, if Columbus’ offensive woes continue, I think Orlando could come in and steal at least a point, so I’d take a shot on the draw and Orlando double chance.
