Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid meet Monday in International Champions Cup soccer action at Singapore National Stadium.
Paris Saint-Germain are coming off a 1-5 blowout loss to Arsenal in which it allowed 11 shots on goal and just got rocked the entire second half of the match. The bright spots of the match for PSG was that it did manage to control the ball for 44 percent and Christopher Nkunku found the back of the net on a penalty kick. Other than that, it was an overall brutal performance from Paris Saint-Germain, a club that has now lost three straight matches and has been outscored 4-12 during those matches. While you can pull the preseason card and the fact complete starting squads aren’t playing in these matches, but there is something to getting waxed in these matches as well. Paris Saint-Germain needs to get a confidence boost with this performance with Ligue 1 play taking place in a couple of weeks. Show some signs of life have to be shown in this match.

Atletico Madrid is coming off a victory over Arsenal, as the match went into penalty kicks and the Mattress Makers were on the winning side. In the victory, Atletico Madrid controlled the ball for just 39 percent of the match and Luciano Vietto found the back of the net in regulation. Atletico Madrid has now produced a positive result in each of its last five matches and has scored two or more goals in each of its last four matches. Atletico Madrid has a clear rest advantage for this match with four days off and has to like the offensive rhythm this team has found, as it is getting quality looks at the net and just produced four shots on goal. Atletico Madrid is in pretty good form with many preseason matches left on the schedule.
The last meeting between these clubs was in the 2009 Emirates Cup, a match that resulted in a 1-1 draw.
Paris Saint-Germain has looked awful to say the least and will now play this match on a major quick turnaround, which I’m not sure helps. Atletico Madrid is well rested, finding good offensive chances and pretty much just limited an Arsenal side that downright abused PSG in the second half of their match. It feels like there’s only one way to go here.
Give me Atletico Madrid for the victory.
