Leicester City and Valencia meet Wednesday in a friendly soccer action at King Power Stadium.
Leicester City enters this match in pretty poor form and is coming off a 1-2 loss to Udinese. In the loss, Leicester City struggled in the first half and the lone goal was a garbage time shot from Kelechi Iheanacho late in the second half. Leicester City has now been on the losing side in six of its last 10 matches and has allowed two or more goals in six of those matches overall. Preseason or not, this is awful form right now for the Foxes and things need to turn around quickly with the Premier League right around the corner. The defense needs to improve drastically and it wouldn’t hurt if the offense could get a shot in the arm as well. At this point Leicester City doesn’t need a victory, but it needs to look better and provide some sort of confidence once the matches mean something.

Valencia is coming off a 1-2 loss to PSV in which it allowed six shots on goal and struggled with the physical play. Carlos Soler found the back of the net early for Valencia, but the team struggled to do anything after that goal. Valencia has now been held to one or less goals in 10 of its last 12 matches and that’s the reason this side has settled for losses and draws instead of victories. Valencia is still projected to be one of the better teams in the Primera Division and things should turnaround eventually, but you’d like to see some better results before the friendly matches end. Find an offensive spark to build on and you’d feel better about Valencia heading into regular season play.
The last match between these two clubs was a 2011 friendly, a match Valencia won 1-0. The match was decided on Jonas Goncalves Oliveira goal.
This is kind of a prove it match to me, as neither side has been playing great as of late and the offense has been blah from both teams. Leicester City should win this match if they both play to their potential, but I don’t have much confidence on either side given the overall form. I expect this game to be similar to how the last meeting went.
So, I’m going to produce a draw.
