We have some MLS action on Saturday evening as FC Dallas hosts the San Jose Earthquakes from Toyota Stadium.

FC Dallas comes into this match looking to extend their current unbeaten run which sits at three games following a 3-2 win over Sporting Kansas City in their last outing. Michael Barrios single handedly gave the Hoops all three points, securing his first three goals of the season with a hat trick coming in the 23rd, 62nd and 74th minutes. Dallas were out possessed by KC 62%-38% and outshot 16-11, but it was quality not quantity for the Hoops as Dallas had 6 shots on target to Kansas City’s 4. Dominique Badji and Roland Lamah are tied for the FC Dallas lead in scoring with 7 goals this season, while Lamah shares the Hoops’ lead in assists with Mauro Diaz as each have 5 assists this season.

FC Dallas vs. San Jose Earthquakes - 8/4/18 MLS Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

San Jose will be out to snap this horrendous winless drought that currently sits at 12 straight and 19 of their last 20 games following a scoreless draw with Real Salt Lake in their last outing. The Quakes were out possessed by RSL with just 43% possession to Salt Lake’s 57%, but the Earthquakes did outshoot RSL 15-8 with each team having 3 shots on goal at the full time whistle. Danny Hoesen leads San Jose with 10 goals this season and is one of five Quakes to share the team lead in assists with 3 this season.

An interesting head-to-head trend worth noting, the home side is winless in the last five league meetings between these two teams, with a pair of away wins and three draws in those five games.

It’s a matter of first vs. Worst in the West, and common logic would say that FC Dallas is a slam dunk to win this one. However, the head-to-head trends favoring San Jose are slightly intriguing, and while Dallas is a better side than Real Salt Lake, I pegged San Jose to draw in their last outing due to recent head-to-head history, and I’m going to do the same here as we are getting some decent odds on the Earthquakes and a draw as a double chance.
