We have some MLS action from Yankee Stadium on Saturday as New York City FC play host to the Vancouver Whitecaps.

New York City FC comes into this matchup looking to bounce back after having a four game winning streak snapped thanks to a 3-1 loss to Seattle Sounders in their last outing. NYCFC found themselves down 2-0 by the 51st minute, before Jesus Medina cut into the lead with a strike in the 68th minute. However, Seattle scored again in the 86th to secure all three points for the home side. NYCFC won the possession battle 58%-42% and outshot Seattle 19-14, with the Sounders owning a 5-3 advantage in shots on target. Maxi Morales, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and David Villa are tied for NYCFC’s lead with 8 goals this season while Morales leads NYCFC with 7 assists this season.

New York City FC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps - 8/4/18 MLS Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

The Vancouver Whitecaps will look to build some steam after a 4-2 win over Minnesota United in their last outing. Yordy Reyna, Alphonso Davis and Kei Kamara helped the Caps go from scoreless draw in the 35th to 3-0 up in the 64th. Minnesota pulled a pair back in the 82nd and 87th before Davies sealed the deal for Vancouver just two minutes later. Vancouver were out possessed by Minnesota with just 38% possession with each side logging 13 shots apiece. Vancouver owned a slight 6-5 advantage in terms of shots on target. Kamara leads Vancouver in scoring with 9 goals this season while Davies leads Vancouver with 8 assists this season.

The home side has won the last two head-to-head meetings between these two sides, and something else worth noting, all three meetings have seen both teams on the score sheet and all three meetings have seen at least three goals.

NYCFC was a little bit disappointing for me last time out, so I’m a tad hesitant to back the Blues with such a heavy line. On the other hand, Vancouver hasn’t been performing well enough to give me faith in the heavy plus money. One thing I do feel comfortable with is the both teams to score market as it’s been a common trend when these two lock up. I think we see some fireworks here and on both sides of the scoreboard at that.
