We have some MLS action from MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday as the Columbus Crew host the Houston Dynamo.

The Columbus Crew come into this match looking to build on back-to-back 3-2 wins, the most recent coming in the form of a road victory over New York Red Bulls in their last outing. The Crew went from 0-0 in the 7th to 3-0 up in the 31st minute thanks to goals from Jonathan Mensah in the 7th and Patrick Mullins in the 24th before the Red Bulls gifted a third marker to Columbus in the 31st minute. Things got dodgy for the Crew in the second half, conceding a pair of goals in the 50th and 69th minutes but doing enough to steal all three points on the road. The Crew were out possessed 53%-47% and outshot 13-10 and 5-3 in terms of shots on target. Gyasi Zardes leads the Crew with 13 goals this season while Federico Higuain is Columbus’ leading assist man with 5 assists this season.

Columbus Crew vs. Houston Dynamo - 8/11/18 MLS Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Dynamo will be out to snap a string of three straight losses following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sporting Kansas City in their last outing. The match was the farthest thing from tame from a Dynamo perspective, with a total of 9 cards handed out to Houston players, including a trio of straight red cards to Alejandro Fuenmayor in the 14th, and Darwin Ceren and Alberth Elis in the 94th and 98th minutes respectively. Houston were out possessed 60%-40% and outshot 14-9 with each side logging four shots on goal. Mauro Manotas leads Houston with 11 goals this season while Elis is the Dynamo’s leading assist man with 7 assists to go along with his 9 goals this season.

Head-to-head, the home side is unbeaten in the last 12 league meetings between these two sides, including seven wins in the last eight meetings.

As if the recent form of both teams wasn’t enough to sway you, you see the dominance of the home team in this matchup. Columbus is riding some serious momentum after their road win against a strong Red Bulls side, while the Dynamo’s temper will leave them without some serious talent in this game. All in all, I see the home side continuing their dominance in this tie so I’ll side with Columbus to win.
