English Premier League Soccer: August 2018

Wolves vs Manchester City: Wolverhampton Wanderers will be hosting Manchester City. The home side has only got 1 point after two games and after their big transfer window, things are not as good as the management would have liked. This will be an incredibly hard match as they are playing one of the best teams in the world. Looking at Manchester City, it is hard to pick a weakness. This team is well balanced and extremely skilled. They are also playing well as a team. This should be another easy win for Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City team.

Southampton vs Leicester City: The Saints and the Foxes meet at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton. This has traditionally been a fortress for Southampton but that didn’t look like the case in round 1 as the Saints got a poor result against Burnley. On the other side of the coin, Leicester City won their first game last weekend and things are looking good for the Foxes. Leicester will be without star striker, Jamie Vardy, as he got a red card in the last game. Even without Vardy, Leicester are the better team and I think they will get the win away from home.
Bournemouth vs Everton: Bournemouth won a big game last weekend as they beat West Ham United away from home at London Stadium. The Cherries fought back well after conceding early and that performance showed that the team has a great fighting spirit. Everton also won last weekend with new signing, Richarlison, lighting up the Premier League. This will be a tough match for the Toffees since they are away from home and Bournemouth is a hard place to visit. I think Everton will be good enough to get a share of the points. I am picking this fixture to be a draw.
Huddersfield vs Cardiff: Both of these teams are struggling and are in desperate need of a win. The Terriers were destroyed by Manchester City last weekend and will be very keen to get their first point on the board. On the other hand, Cardiff City got a draw at home against Newcastle. That was a game that Cardiff should have won as Newcastle were down to 10 men. Both teams will know the importance of a win but I think neither team is good enough to win. I think we are going to get draw.
Watford vs Crystal Palace: These are two teams will be interesting to follow this season since they both have great potential of doing well. Watford are on 6 points after two matches and will look to continue their perfect record. They have played well so far but this will be their biggest test as they have only faced weak opposition. Crystal Palace have 3 points but there was no shame in their loss since it was against Liverpool. The Eagles were very good against Fulham away from home and I think they can repeat that kind of a performance. I am expecting Crystal Palace to beat Watford.
Fulham vs Burnley: Fulham and Burnley will both look to get their first wins of the season. These teams are both very exciting to watch but have not gotten any decent result so far this season. Fulham lost to Tottenham last weekend and although they got no points from the game, there were clear signs of improvement. Burnley, on the other hand, played in the Europa League qualifiers midweek. That will mean the players will be fatigued and that usually causes issues. I think the fatigue will a big enough factor which will result in Fulham winning at home.
Newcastle United vs Chelsea: Chelsea won against Arsenal last weekend and while the win was impressive, there are still big problems that need to be sorted. Newcastle United, on the other hand, were very lucky to get a point as they played most of the 2nd half with 10 men. Rafa Benitez will hope that his team can get their first win of the season soon but it might have to wait as Chelsea should be too strong for the Magpies. I am predicting a victory for Chelsea.
