English Premier League: Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 9:00 AM (Old Trafford)
Manchester United -170, Watford +475 -- Over/Under: 2.5
Manchester United F.C. and Watford F.C face off in a key Premier League showdown at Old Trafford. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 9:00 AM eastern time.
Watford is in all sorts of trouble and they need to find a couple of big wins soon or they could find themselves relegated. Watford currently sits with 24 points and if the season ended today they wouldn’t be in the Premier League next season.
Watford, for the most part, has been competitive this season, but competitive hasn’t been good enough to win games.
Watford’s last game is a good representation of their entire season. Watford got the first goal of the game, but Adrian Mariappa scored an own goal late, and that led to a 1-1 draw against Brighton. Watford had only five shots all game, and only two of those were on goal.
Watford’s last win was on January 12th against Bournemouth.
It has felt like a disappointing season for Manchester United but they still sit 7th in the standings with 38 points. If Manchester United wins this game, they will be tied with Tottenham and Sheffield United for fifth.
Manchester United’s last game was on Monday waw against Chelsea, and taking a look at the stats outside of goal, it looks like a game they would have been destroyed in. Chelsea had 62 percent of the possession, and had 17 shots, but couldn’t put any in the back of the net. Manchester United only had nine shots but they put two in the back of the net.
Manchester United has played to at least a draw in each of their last five competitions, and the hope is they can make one las strong push to get into the top four.
Manchester United has won five of its last six games against Watford. The one win for Watford was on December 22nd, 2019 putting two goals in the back of the net on the way to a victory.
Watford isn’t a great defensive team and there should be plenty of scoring in this game. Manchester United should control the possession and it wouldn’t be shocking to see them cover the over by themselves. At least four goals should be scored, which makes the over a nice safe bet.
