Newcastle United (LLWDD) and Burnley (WWDLW) will meet on Saturday, February 29th for an English Premier League match at St. James’ Park. The match is scheduled for a 10:00 AM ET start time.
Newcastle is coming off a 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace on February 22nd in English Premier League action in their last match. Newcastle has now lost two straight matches, as their other loss was a 4-0 route by Arsenal on the 16th of February. Newcastle has only won one of their last five matches overall, and that win was not an English Premier League victory, but an English FA Cup win over Oxford United. Newcastle will look to put their recent struggles behind them in this match in front of their home supporters.
Burnley is coming off a 3-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth on February 22nd in English Premier League play in their last match. Burnley has now won two straight games and three of their last five overall, as they are playing good football as of late. Wins over Southampton and Manchester United are standouts for this Burnley team recently. In the win over Bournemouth, three second-half goals, including a penalty from Jay Rodriguez, propelled them to a big win in front of their supporters.
Burnley won the most recent match between these two clubs, 1-0, at home on December 14th, 2019. Newcastle had won the previous two matches before that, as both teams have had two wins and a draw in the last five matches between each other. Newcastle is currently 14th in the English Premier League table standings, and Burnley is 10th.
I think there is serious value with Burnley on the road in this spot, as Burnley has proven before (for example, the road victory over Man U) that they are capable of taking down some tough competition in front of the other team’s supporters. Burnley has been the better team this season, and since they had won the most previous match between these teams, I will take a chance with Burnley with the Pick Em’ spread at +105, as I feel that there is too much value to waste here.
