West Ham United F.C. and Southampton F.C. face off on Saturday in a Premier League showdown at London Stadium. Kickoff for this game is scheduled at 10:00 AM Eastern Time.
West Ham currently has 25 points which puts them in 18th place and in the relegation zone. There is still plenty of time for West Ham to turn it around, but they need to get a win or two soon to gain some confidence.
West Ham has lost two games in a row, and their last win in the Premier League came on January 1st against Bournemouth. In that game, West Ham ran up the score putting up four goals and it led to an easy victory.
In West Ham’s last game, they gave Liverpool everything they could handle. West Ham scored the first goal, and after allowing Liverpool to tie it up they took the lead again in the 54th minute. The pressure of Liverpool proved to be too much the last 30 minutes, giving up two goals, and West Ham didn’t have anything to show from the game.
Southampton currently sits 34 points which is good enough 12th place in the league, and with a strong finish, they could continue to make a climb up the standings. Southampton has been inconsistent, but they have at least been winning games.
In Southampton’s last game they took on an Aston Villa team that has had some issues and they were able to win 2-0.
Southampton got a goal early in the eighth minute by Shane Long, and they also added another goal in stoppage time. Against Aston Villa, Southampton didn’t control the possession, but they shot 28 times with nine of those coming on net. In December, West Ham knocked off Southampton 1-0.
Southampton put up a lot of shots in their last game, and that is bad news for West Ham. Look for Southampton to get an early goal and West Ham won’t have an answer. Back Southampton to win this game on the money line.
