Everton (LWWDD) and Manchester United (WWDWD) will meet on Sunday, March 1st for an English Premier League matchup at Goodison Park. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 AM ET start time.
Everton is coming off a 3-2 loss to Arsenal in their last match on February 23rd in English Premier League action. That loss snapped a two-match win streak for Everton, who has played well in the month of February. The offense has looked great for Everton recently, as they have scored a combined 10 goals in their last four matches, averaging more than two goals per match in that span. In the loss to Arsenal, Everton opened the scoring in the first minute with a goal by Dominic Calvert-Lewin. After being tied at the half, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang notched in his second goal of the match to pull Arsenal ahead, as they held on for the 3-2 win.
Manchester United is coming off a 5-0 win over Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League on February 27th. Manchester United will only have two days of rest before this match against Everton, but that should not phase them much at all. United has only allowed one goal to the opposition in their last five matches combined, which is a very impressive tally. In the win over Club Brugge, Simon Deli of Club Brugge has penalized a red card in the 22nd minute, which sealed a blowout victory for Manchester United, who had a 3-0 lead at halftime after the red card.
In the last match against each other on December 15th, 2019, these two teams drew 1-1. Manchester United has won three of the last five overall head-to-head matches, while Everton has only won once, a 4-0 victory at home in April of 2019. Everton is currently 11th in the English Premier League table, while Manchester United is in 5th.
This should be a good match between two teams with a ton of history on their crests. Manchester United’s defense has been spot on as of late, which combats how well Everton’s offense has looked recently. One of these sides will crack, and my money has to be on Manchester United. Therefore, I will take the under 2.5 goals, as I see a clean sheet held by Manchester United, and a possible 0-0 or 1-0 result may be in the foreseeable future.
