Sheffield United (WDWWW) and Norwich City (WWLLD) will meet on Saturday, March 7th for an English Premier League match at Bramall Lane. The match is set for a 10:00 AM eastern start time.
Sheffield United defeated Reading, 2-1, in their last match. That match was featured in English FA Cup competition. Sheffield United has now won four of their last five matches overall, with the only other match being a draw to Brighton Hove & Albion in their last English Premier League match on February 22nd. In their most recent victory over Reading, Sheffield's David McGoldrick opened the scoring in the second minute. A penalty by George Puscas of Reading tied the score at 1 by halftime. It took until Extra Time in the added minutes for Billy Sharp to find the back of the net for Sheffield for them to prevail.
Norwich City is coming off a 1-1 (PEN) win over Tottenham in the English FA Cup. Tottenham's Jan Vertonghen gave Hotspur the lead in the 13th minute. Norwich's Josip Drmic tied the score in the 78th minute to get the game to Extra Time. Norwich won the penalty shootout 3-2 to win and advance in the English FA Cup. In their last English Premier League match, Norwich defeated Leicester City, 1-0, at home.
In the last match between these two teams on December 8th of 2019, Sheffield United was victorious on the road by a score of 2-1. Sheffield has won three of the last four matches between these teams, Norwich has won one, and one was devoted to a draw. Sheffield United is currently 8th in the English Premier League table, while Norwich sits in dead last in 20th. Relegation is a very serious possibility for Norwich, who are down six points from safety.
Although Norwich gave convincing performances against Leicester and Tottenham Hotspur, I still think that Sheffield United at home is the better play. Sheffield United has played great soccer as of late, and in front of their home supporters, I cannot see them letting Norwich having their way at all. Norwich will be motivated as ever after their English FA Cup win, but I think Sheffield will prevail in this one by 2 goals.
