Bate Borisov vs. Rukh Brest FC 4/4/20 Belarus Vysshaya League Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction
4/4/20 10:30 am
Over 2.5 (-138), Under 2.5 (+107)
Bate Borisov is hosting Rukh Brest FC at Borisov Arena in round 3 of the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Bate Borisov is the best team in Belarus who won the title 12 times in a row until last season when they ended in second place, 5 points behind Dinamo Brest and Bate has failed to qualify for the Champions League. Instead, Bate will be playing in the Europa League next season. Bate has scored 61 goals last season, which is an average of just above 2 goals per game. Defensively, Bate was one of the best in the league with only 21 conceded goals. Everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong for Bate at the beginning of this season where they lost their first 2 games and have conceded 5 goals while scoring only 2 goals. Bate is in 14th place in the standings, but the good news is that the season has only just begun. In their last Vysshaya League match against Slavia Mozyr, Bate has had 59% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, and 0 corner kicks. Bate got ahead early, Willumsson has scored in 10th minute, but after that Bate hasn’t done absolutely anything right and, in the end, they lost this game 2-1. As I said, Bate is the best team in Belarus and it doesn’t matter that they lost their first two games in this season, Bate will once again be the top candidate for the title.
Rukh Brest is playing in fantastic form right now and they lost only 1 game since September of last year. This season, Rukh has one win and one loss and is in 9th place in the standings in these early stages of the new season. In their latest Vysshaya League match against Energetik at home, Rukh was the better team with 57% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, and 7 corner kicks but they couldn’t score a goal and Rukh has lost this match 0-1. Rukh got promoted to Vysshaya League after ending in 3rd place of Belarus’ second division last season. Even though they just got promoted, Rukh is displaying solid soccer in Belarus’ top league and I expect them to be somewhere in the middle of the standings at the end of the season. To be more competitive, and to give themselves a shot at getting to the Europa League spot, Rukh will have to wait a little bit and improve their roster on both ends, so maybe in a season or two. The only goal for Rukh this season was scored by Kovtun in round one against Dinamo Minsk. Rukh has scored a ton of goals in the second division last season, but I don’t think they can repeat that this season in Vysshaya League. The defense should be more important for Rukh this season, but I believe they have a good enough team to stay far from the relegation zone.
Bate and Rukh have never played against each other in the past. Bate has had a disastrous start of the season and I believe it’s time for them to finally get a win. Rukh is a newcomer to the league, and they are going to the best team in Belarus. I think Bate gets their first win of the season here.
