Vitebsk vs. FK Smolevichi 4/5/20 Belarus Vysshaya League Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction
4/5/20 9 am
Over 2.5 (+187), Under 2.5 (-250)
Vitebsk is welcoming FK Smolevichi to Vitebsky Central Sport Complex in round 3 of the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Vitebsk is an average team that has been hanging out in the middle of the table for years now, safe outside the relegation zone, but never closer to the top. Vitebsk has been playing hot and cold so far this season and consistency is their biggest problem. In the first two games of this season, Vitebsk has 1 win at home and a loss on the road. In their most recent match in Vysshaya League against Neman on the road, Vitebsk was forced to defend for most of the game. Vitebsk had 47% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, and only 1 corner kick. Vitebsk lost this match 2-0. Vitebsk has scored only 1 goal so far this season and that was an own goal by the other team, while they conceded 2 goals. Last season Vitebsk ended in 12th place with 31 points, only 24 scored goals in 30 games, and 39 conceded goals, which was just enough for them to stay outside the relegation zone. There are few good players in Vitebsk like Wanderson and Kalenchuk but that is simply not enough for this team to have better results.
Smolevichi has been playing fantastic soccer at the end of last season and throughout the preseason this year, but they haven’t won any of their last 2 games in the Vysshaya League. Smolevichi got promoted to Vysshaya League this season after ending up in second place in Belarus’ second division. As of now, Smolevichi is in 14th place in the standings with 1 point, 1 scored goal, and 2 conceded goals. Vladislav Mukhamedov is the only goal scorer for Smolevichi with 1 goal. In their last Vysshaya League match against Isloch last week, Smolevichi had more possession, 52%, but only 1 shot on goal, and 2 corner kicks, which was not enough for a positive result. Smolevichi lost this game 0-1 by an early goal from which they were never able to bounce back. Smolevichi has some good players, and even though the season has just started, badly for Smolevichi I might add, there is still enough time for Smolevichi to prove that they deserve to be in Belarus’ top league. There are no notable injuries in Smolevichi which is always a good thing because the coach will have his best players ready for this game.
I’ve mentioned before that the home field advantage means nothing these days, and I still think that is the case. Vitebsk is the better and more experienced team here and I see them getting a victory here.
