Over 2.5 (+135), Under 2.5 (-175)
FK Smolevichi is welcoming Shakhtyor Soligorsk to Ozyorny Stadium in round 4 of the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Smolevichi is a newcomer to the league and at the moment they are in 15th place in the standings with only 1 point, 1 scored goal, and 3 conceded goals. The only point Smolevichi won so far this season came from a season opener on the road against Dinamo Brest. Both of their last games in the Vysshaya League, Smolevichi have lost 0-1, and both were at home. In their last match against Vitebsk at home, Smolevichi had 72% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, and 5 corner kicks, and were the better team in this game, but unfortunately for Smolevichi, they lost this match. Mukhamedov has scored the only goal for Smolevichi this season. Even though Smolevichi is the newcomer to the Vysshaya League, I believe they have the quality to stay outside the relegation zone, but it will be a hard battle for them until the end of the season. First think Smolevichi must fix is their offense, because without goals they can’t win games or points necessary to stay in the league.
Shakhtyor has had really well last season where they ended in 3rd place with 65 points, 59 scored goals, and only 21 conceded goals, but this season hasn’t started well for them. With 1 win, 1 loss, and 1 draw, Shakhtyor is in 10th place in the standings. The only 2 goals scored by Shakhtyor were scored in their second game against Gorodeya on the road. Diasamidze and Podstrelov have each scored 1 goal for Shakhtyor. In their last match against Neman at home last weekend, Shakhtyor had 51% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, and 4 corner kicks, and while their defense has been solid, Shakhtyor’s offense hasn’t been good enough in this match. This game ended in a 0-0 draw. Earlier this week, Shakhtyor was playing in the Belarus Cup against Dinamo Brest on the road and has lost 2-0. This was only the first leg of the competition which means that Shakhtyor will get a chance to catch up in a home game at the end of April. Throughout the preseason and at the beginning of the season, Shakhtyor was hot and cold and their form lacks consistency, especially on the defensive end, which is something they had plenty of last season. There were some changes in Shakhtyor’s roster after last season, and those changes are what had the most impact on Shakhtyor’s form, but nonetheless, Shakhtyor has enough quality to end this season in the top four.
Shakhtyor has won all three games they played against Smolevichi in the past. Smolevichi haven’t won any of their last 4 games, but they also haven’t lost any of their last 8 games. Neither Smolevichi or Shakhtyor are playing in good form, and even though I would give the advantage to Shakhtyor because they are the better team, my gut is telling me this could end up in a draw.
