Dinamo Minsk is hosting Neman Grodno at Tractor Stadium in part of round 5 of the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Dinamo Minsk is in a terrible form this season with only 1 win in their last 7 games. After being knocked out of the Belarus Cup by Bate Borisov in early March, Dinamo has lost their first 2 games in Vysshaya League. After the four losses in a row, Dinamo Minsk has finally won a game against Torpedo at home, the score was 2-0. In their last match in Vysshaya League against Gorodeya on the road, Dinamo was the better team with 54% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, and 6 corner kicks, but unfortunately, Dinamo has lost this match 1-0. Dinamo Minsk has scored 4 goals in 4 games this season while conceding 5 goals. With 3 points, Dinamo is in low 14th place in the standings. Dinamo Minsk was solid last season when they ended up in 4th place with 50 points, and I don’t think that this slow start of the season is the true image of this team. Dinamo Minsk has a solid roster and I believe this team can do so much better. It’s only a matter of time before Dinamo catches a good form and starts winning games. Since Dinamo Minsk is no longer competing in the Belarus Cup, their only chance to qualify for the Europa League is to be in one of the top three positions, but for that to happen Dinamo Minsk has to start winning games.
Neman is having a solid season where they lost only 1 game so far, the first one in the season. Neman has 5 points and is in 11th place in the standings. Kadimyan has scored 2 goals for Neman so far this season and is their leading goal scorer. In their last match in the Vysshaya League against Belshina at home, Neman has had 45% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, and 5 corner kicks. This was a solid game amongst two equal teams which ended in a 1-1 draw. For years now Neman has been an average Belarus’ team and I think it will be the same this season as well. I think that Neman will be safe outside the relegation zone, but I don’t see them getting higher than 9th place simply because they don’t have the quality in the attacking end. Neman has conceded only 2 goals this season which tells us that there is some quality in Neman’s defense, but we can also say that they played against the teams that are not in a good form, which is true. This will be the season where Neman will mostly fight to stay outside the relegation zone because the European competitions are out of their reach, by a lot.
Dinamo Minsk is the better team here, by far, despite their shockingly bad start of the season. It doesn’t take a lot for a team to break the losing streak, and I believe Dinamo Minsk will break their losing streak here and finally start climbing the standings.
