Belshina Bobruisk is welcoming FC Smolevichi to Spartak Stadium in part of round 5 of the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Belshina is in a terrible form and they haven’t won any of their last 7 games. Belshina is the newcomer to the Vysshaya League after they won Belarus’ second division last season, but it seems that Belshina doesn’t have the quality for Belarus’ top league, at least at this moment. Belshina has only 1 point so far this season and they are in the last place in the standings. Belshina has scored only 2 goals in 4 games while conceding 6 goals. Kovel has scored both goals for Belshina this season. In their last match against Neman on the road, Belshina was solid with 55% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, and 2 corner kicks. This match ended in a 1-1 draw. As I’ve said earlier, Belshina has won Belarus’ second division last season and they were the best team in that league with massive 74 scored goals in 28 games, but there were a lot of changes in the Belshina’s roster since last season and I suspect that is the main reason for their disastrous form so far. Of course, there is still plenty of time for Belshina to turn things around, but it will be an extremely tough season for them.
Smolevichi is another newcomer to the Vysshaya League. Smolevichi was in second place in Belarus’ second division last season, just 4 points behind Belshina, but they weren’t as good in the attacking end. Defensively, Smolevichi was the best team in their league last season. So far this season, Smolevichi has two points, 1 scored goal, and 3 conceded goals. The preseason was great for Smolevichi, but when the season started everything took a turn for the worse. In their last Vysshaya League match against Shakhtyor at home, Smolevichi was forced to defend throughout the match and they had only 45% of ball possession, 3 corner kicks, and 0 shots on goal. This was an outstanding performance for Smolevichi on the defensive end and the game ended in a 0-0 draw. The only goal that Smolevichi has so far this season was scored by Mukhamedov in their first game of the season. Overall, Smolevichi is nothing but a below-average team in this league and they will compete with a few other teams to stay outside the relegation zone. Same as Belshina, this will be a long and tough season for Smolevichi.
This is a derby match between two of the teams that are fresh in the Vysshaya League and were really close in the table last season. Belshina was the better offensive team last season while Smolevichi was better defensively. Both of the teams are struggling this season, and while I would give a slight advantage to Belshina, I feel this will end in a draw.
