Bate Borisov is welcoming Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino to Borisov Arena in round 5 of the Belarus Vysshaya League.
It seems that Bate Borisov is finally waking up. After two losses in the first two games of the season, Bate Borisov is now on a 2-game winning streak in the Vysshaya League and without a conceded goal. In the Belarus Cup, Bate has lost to Slavia Mozyr, but it was only 1-0 loss which Bate and easily nullify at home at the end of the month. Bate is in 9th place in the Vysshaya League standings with 6 points, 6 scored goals, and 5 conceded goals. In their last match in Vysshaya League against FC Minsk on the road, Bate was playing great and has had 54% of ball possession, 9 shots on goal, and 2 corner kicks. Bate Borisov has won this game 0-3, deservedly so. Bate Borisov is probably the best and the most dominant team in Belarus history and them losing the title last season was quite the shock for everyone in the club. The main goal for Bate Borisov is the get the title back this season, a job they are capable of doing, but it will not be easy given their slow start and the fact that there are at least 2 other teams in Vysshaya League that can compete with Bate Borisov at the highest level.
Torpedo is doing surprisingly well this season and they are in 2nd place in the standings with 9 points, 4 scored goals and 2 conceded goals. Torpedo has conceded goals in only 1 of their 4 games this season in Vysshaya League which is telling us that their defense is playing on a solid level and if Torpedo can keep this up, they might just get themselves in one of the European competitions. In their most recent match in the Vysshaya League against Energetik at home, Torpedo was solid with 47% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, and 3 corner kicks. Torpedo was patient and calm and was waiting for their opportunities in this game, which they used and won this match 2-0. Last season was satisfying for Torpedo where they were close to the Europa League position-wise but pointwise, they were still far away. So far, this season is going great for Torpedo and hopefully, they can stay consistent. Offensively, Torpedo is playing well, and they scored a goal in 3 of their last 4 games. After this match against Bate, Torpedo is playing against Rukh Brest, a team where they can certainly aim for a win and another three points.
Bate Borisov is the better team here and has had far more success head to head in the past, both at home and on the road. Usually, when Bate and Torpedo meet, there are a lot of goals scored, and I expect the same here as well. Both teams are pretty consistent on the offensive end and are scoring a solid amount of goals.
