FK Slutsk is hosting Belshina Bobruisk at Garadskoi Stadium in round 6 of the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Slutsk is the team that is the best form in the Vysshaya League this season and is at the top with 10 points, 9 scored goals, and 6 conceded goals. Slutsk has lost only 1 of their 5 games in the Vysshaya League so far. Offensively, Slutsk has been good so far and they scored at least one goal in 4 of their 5 games, while defensively Slutsk has been a little less consistent and they conceded a goal in all 5 games this season. In their most recent match in the Vysshaya League against Shakhtyor on the road, Slutsk had 49% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, and 2 corner kicks. Even though Slutsk was the weaker team in this match, they scored 2 goals from their 2 shots on goal and has won this match 1-2. Last season Slutsk was in the middle of the standings, but this season is completely different for Slutsk and they are a legitimate contestant for the title. It’s hard to say what changed in the offseason, but whatever it was, it’s working. Slutsk is one of the best offensive teams in the league right now, and I hope they can keep it up because it’s nice to see more than three teams competing for the title.
Belshina is the worst team in the Vysshaya League and they haven’t won any of their last 8 games. With only 2 points, 3 scored goals, and 7 conceded goals, Belshina is in the last place in the standings, and even though it’s still early in the season, I think Belshina will get relegated. In their last match in the Vysshaya League against Smolevichi at home, Belshina had 45% of ball possession, 2 shots on target, and only 1 corner kick. This was a tough match with not a lot of opportunities, but Belshina got the lead in the 80th minute from the penalty spot. Just when we thought Belshina will get their first win of the season, Smolevichi scored a tying goal also from the penalty spot and this match ended in a 1-1 draw. Belshina got promoted after winning the Belarus second division last season, but the difference between first and second division is just too much for Belshina and I’m afraid they don’t have the quality to compete with most of the teams in the Vysshaya League. The last two teams in the Vysshaya League are getting directly relegated, while the third spot from the bottom leads into the relegation playoffs, and that is the only way Belshina might get a chance to stay in the Vysshaya League for one more season because I don’t think Belshina can climb the standings higher than 14th spot.
The trends are on Slutsk’s side and I think it stays that way. Slutsk is the better team, in better form, and they are scoring a lot of goals. Belshina is struggling massively and I just can’t back the team in such a terrible form.
