Isloch is hosting Vitebsk at KFP Minsk in part of round 6 in the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Isloch is close to the top of the Vysshaya League, but their form hasn’t been consistent and that could be their downfall soon. Isloch has scored and conceded 7 goals in 5 games so far this season. With 9 points, Isloch is in 5th place in the standings, only 3 points away from the top. Isloch has scored at least one goal in all 5 of their games this season, while they conceded in 3 of their 5 games. In their most recent Vysshaya League game against Slavia Mozyr at home, Isloch was the better team with 51% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, and 7 corner kicks. The first half of this game was tight, and we haven’t seen any goals, but the second half was much more exciting. Isloch has scored 2 goals in 10 minutes to get a comfortable 2-0 lead, but just four minutes after Isloch’s second goal, Slavia has split the lead and we have ourselves a game once again. Isloch was able to hold on to their 2-1 lead until the end and this was the final result. Isloch has been solid for most of the season but their defense is slowly declining and unless Isloch can get that issue under control, they won’t be as high in the standings for much longer.
Vitebsk is on a 3-game roll without a loss with 3 scored goals, and only 1 conceded a goal. Overall, Vitebsk has been solid this season, and thanks to that they are in 3rd place with 10 points, same as Torpedo and Slutsk above them. Vitebsk has lost only 1 match so far this season, and that was bac In the second round against Neman on the road. In their latest match in the Vysshaya League against Dynamo Brest at home, Vitebsk had 45% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, and 6 corner kicks. I believe this game would have ended in a draw if not for Dynamo’s 2 red cards late in the second half. Vitebsk knew how to use 2 men's advantage, how to put pressure, and as a reward, Vitebsk was awarded a penalty kick in 87th minute, which they scored, and Vitebsk has won this match 1-0. The next four opponents Vitebsk is playing against are some of the worst teams in the Vysshaya League if we look at their current form, and seeing Vitebsk’s stable defense, they just might stay close to the top for a while. The only thing that concerns me is the Vitebsk offense that is not producing enough chances, but we will see how this situation will develop in the next few weeks.
Vitebsk has had some success against Isloch on the road, but I expect this to be a tight game. Sure, Isloch has a solid offense, but Vitebsk is defending better. That being said, my gut is telling me this might end in a draw, and I will go with my gut.
